Focus and Scope
Indian Journal of Medical Informatics (IJMI) is an Open Access, peer-reviewed, online journal adopting a broad definition of "medical informatics" and focusing on the applied aspects of computers to healthcare delivery. We aim to make the Indian Journal of Medical Informatics a high quality journal that will publish papers quickly. The Indian Journal of Medical Informatics promises to serve the wide domains for all possible applications of healthcare informatics with special emphasis on conditions similar to those prevailing in India.
We would encourage potential authors to submit high-quality manuscripts related to the entire gamut of clinical informatics, nursing informatics, imaging informatics, consumer health informatics, public health informatics, dental informatics, clinical research informatics, veterinary informatics, and pharmacy informatics. Further we would welcome articles related to the methodologies and applications of tele-health (e-Health and Telemedicine), especially under diverse regional and socio-economic backgrounds.
However, we do not intend to publish articles in the domains of hard core Bioinformatics (proteomics, genomics and drug design).
In the Indian Journal of Medical Informatics, all articles are accessible FREE of charge (as HTML file). In addition, PDF files are available only to the IAMI Members.

Peer Review Process
When we receive a manuscript, the Associate Editors and/or Assistant Editors will first decide whether the manuscript meets the formal criteria specified in the Instructions for Authors and whether it fits within the scope of the journal. When in doubt, the editor will consult other members of the Editorial Board. Manuscripts are then assigned to one of the editorial board members, who sends it to 2-4 external experts for peer review. Authors are requested to suggest at least 2 peer-reviewers (who do not have an conflict of interest) during the submission process.
IJMI will publish articles on aspects of medical informatics that are judged acceptable by strong peer review.
IJMI peer reviewers will aim to:
o Keep lead-times to a minimum.
o Request the presentation of raw data where the concepts or models explored in the article require further support or elucidation.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
